Abstract

Climate change is a significant driver of migrations and displacements of people. The interrelations between climate change and human mobility are multifaceted, generating impacts that affect all spheres of society. Therefore, it is relevant to consider, when developing response strategies, not only the aspects specifically related to climate change and human mobility but also the notion of interconnected risks, that is, a complex range of multifactorial causes that mutually influence each other. In this context, this study aims, through a literature and documentary review, to address the following research question: what are the main intersecting themes in the study of climate change and human mobility? To this end, the first part of this article explores aspects related to the advancement of climate science, the characterization of a climate emergency, and the categorization of climate risks. The second part addresses the idea of interconnected risks and explores the relationships between climate change and human mobility, including the response of the legal system.
