In this paper we explore Christine de Pizan's seminal contribution to the defense of women’s dignity, focusing on her work The Book of the City of Ladies (1405) and her role in the Querelle des Femmes. Through a textual and contextualized analysis, we demonstrate how Pizan challenged medieval misogyny, initiating a debate that influenced feminist thought for centuries. We examine the structure and central arguments of The Book of the City of Ladies, its critique of the misogynistic tradition, and the influence of her ideas on Renaissance and Enlightenment authors such as Marguerite de Navarre, Marie de Gournay, Mary Astell, and Mary Wollstonecraft. The research highlights Pizan's enduring relevance in the construction of a history of women in philosophy and in understanding the origins of modern feminism.
