Abstract

The proposals developed by the UCS/CARVI Letters Course Subproject PIBID were based on the perspective that comprises the Portuguese language situated in interactional contexts. In school, this is the result of activities of reading, analysis, reflection and production of varied textual genres that circulate in society. This view is supported by the National Curricular Parameters that advocate teaching as social interaction. The practices were developed together with the high school students of the Mestre Santa Bárbara State School, in Bento Gonçalves. The actions focused on work units aimed at the study of the following textual genres: chronicle, opinion piece and school dissertation. It was observed a qualified evolution of the students in their experiences of initiation to teaching, advances in the interest of the students engaged to read and produce texts, as well as in a singular reach of the teachers of the area of languages in the institution in focus, as far as they looked for knowledge to improve their pedagogical practices.
