The blue shark, Prionace glauca (Linnaeus, 1758) is the main pelagic species caught in longline fishing around the world. This species has limited reproductivity, so for its proper management and conservation, studies related to its biological aspects are essential. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate the biological aspects of Prionace glauca specimens captured in the Southeast-South region of Brazil. In July 2016, ten blue shark samples were donated by a fishing company from the port region of Itajaí, in the state of Santa Catarina, which operates in the Territorial Sea and the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the SoutheastSouth region of the country. At the landing, the weight and sex of sharks specimens were measured in their commercial weight, i.e., without head, viscera and dorsal, ventral and caudal fins. Total length, fork length, total weight and age were estimated from equations proposed in the literature, using commercial weight as the basis. Among the 10 specimens, nine were male and one female. The results showed a mean of 240 cm to total length, with a range varying between 224 and 275 cm. The mean of total weight was 54.4 kg, ranging from 43.2 to 83.3 kg. The mean age was 6.3 years, ranging from 5.4 to 8.7 years. The average fork length was 201 cm, ranging from 187 to 230 cm. The capture of adult males was predominant, since sexual maturity occurs in males and females from 180 cm fork length.
