Una breve discusión de las estrategias y procesos de dispersión en Ostracoda

Resumen

La clase Ostracoda es un grupo de pequeños crustáceos que se caracterizan por tener su cuerpo completamente rodeado por un caparazón bivalvo secretado por la epidermis. Sus caparazones se conservan comúnmente en sedimentos y tienen un excelente potencial como indicadores paleoambientales y estratigráficos. Los ostracodos ocupan los hábitats húmedos acuáticos y terrestres más diferentes. Este grupo utiliza diferentes mecanismos de dispersión en relación con el entorno en el que se encuentra. El enfoque de la discusión en este trabajo estará en los modos de dispersión pasiva y sus posibles agentes influyentes. Los ostrácodos no marinos tienen varias estrategias relacionadas con el estrés ambiental en los cuerpos de agua continentales, como la partenogénesis y la resistencia de los huevos a la desecación. Las estrategias para las especies marinas no están bien documentadas experimentalmente, pero se recuperan algunas evidencias, así como la influencia del hombre en la introducción involuntaria de especies. Este trabajo presenta una nueva posibilidad de foresia para la dispersión de ostrácodos marinos a través de las tortugas.
