The infodemic within the pandemic: knowledge about COVID-19 in the metropolitan region of Salvador/BA

During COVID-19 pandemic, people have been exposed to a significant amount of fake news, spreading misconceptions such as the inefficacy of preventive measures very well studied by the specialists, as social isolation. Hence, this study aimed to grade the information level of the population from Salvador's metropolitan area about COVID-19. An online questionnaire was applied with 25 questions about the main characteristics of the disease, and the scores of the participants were classified as low, intermediate and high level of information. The sample was made predominantly of soteropolitan individuals, female, and with high level of education. It was found a higher grade of mistakes and "don't know" answers on the "general information about coronavirus" section. Therefore, it was seen that the participants had a satisfactory knowledge about the main aspects of COVID-19 pandemic. However, even in a highly educated sample, some participants were not able to distinguish the trueness of the information.
