Abstract
The Interdisciplinary Journal of Applied Science aims to be a means of scientific communication aimed at the academic public in the stage of scientific development and maturation. The RICA, so charmingly called henceforth, should serve as a beginning of the journey for academics who have science in their minds and who believe they can contribute to society with concrete knowledge based on scientific methodology.
The sections are divided in order to cover everything from beginners to scientific careers to more experienced ones, maintaining an interdisciplinary focus and covering areas ranging from science and pedagogy to engineering and technology.
The “Professor Model” section will always focus on an article that pays homage to an outstanding professional educator in the academic environment and shares what we conventionally call the “Jeito Professor Igino de Educar”. Of course, the first honoree is Prof. Igino Santo Damo, which is a landmark in the Teaching of Physics at UCS and in all the places where he worked. Reading this article will lead the reader to this special “way” of educating and delighting, which awakens the desire to know and learn Physics.
Short articles, which clearly address the scientific method, are the focus of the “Short Communications” section, where work carried out in the classroom or in an extension or internship project can be submitted and presented to the journal's readers. This issue presents the manufacture of a didactic electric motor, the implementation of an impedance tomograph, and the use of Bacillus thuringiensis in the biological control of pests.
The “Complete Articles” section, on the other hand, presents a more extensive review and deeper data analysis. This section is intended to receive coursework or master's degree papers, or even scientific initiation papers with years of research. In this edition, the study of the sustaining forces of a wing, the application of educational technologies in the classroom and the faunal analysis of Cicadallidae leafhoppers in a plum orchard in São Paulo are the highlights.
The “Review Article” section focuses on the review of a current issue in the most diverse scientific areas. In this first edition, interdisciplinarity is explored by Professor Gladis Franck da Cunha, part of the editorial board of RICA. It makes your article guide our ideas for the functioning of the magazine, open and ready to make choices in various fields of knowledge.
So, presented magazine, welcome and be part of its construction.
