Abstract

Industry 4.0 is the term used to represent the fourth industrial revolution. In this, several technologies are used to improve results in production systems, including simulation, automation and connectivity. This article presents a feasibility study of automation of operational activities, in a group of CNC lathes, for gears machining operations. Four different systems have been proposed, using collaborative robots and a connected three-dimensional measuring machine. These were evaluated by discrete event simulations, with the Flexsim® software, which confirmed the superiority of the proposed system with one operator, robot and a measuring machine, for three lathes. The results present gains in productivity and cost reduction, using industry 4.0 technologies.
