FROM GENIUS TO BUREAUCRACY A REFLECTION ON EDUCATION FROM THE TEXT ON THE FUTURE OF OUR EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS BY FRIEDRICH NIETZSCHE
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article presents a brief reflection based on Friedrich Nietzsche's critique of the German educational model in the context of rapid modernization of the State in the 19th century. To do so, we delve into the lectures "On the Future of Our Educational Institutions," delivered in 1872, whose scope allows us to consider the impact of the bourgeois State on the education of young people and its detrimental effect on culture, highlighting the loss of the classical ideal in favor of economic goals in formal education. Nietzsche argues that German education, by directing teaching towards statist utilitarianism, compromises the formation of complete citizens, turning education into a means of serving political and economic interests. Despite the distant cultural context, we argue that the philosopher's critique remains relevant towards an emancipatory education that does not limit human achievement to economic success and does not neglect fundamental philosophical and ethical issues.
