Abstract

This study aims to expand the possibilities on the Blockchain in tourism, using the descriptive method with a qualitative approach. They were analyzed as Google Scholar publications, where the universe of 67 studies was built with publications from January 2020 to April 2021, from pages in Portuguese, containing the terms “Tourism” and “Blockchain”. The analyses considered: type of publications, year, subject, method, scientific area and means of publication. To define the text's approximation with the Tourism and Blockchain themes, frequencies of specific terms were counted throughout the research. The results shown that despite the use of the Blockchain in the area of tourism being evidenced, research in Portuguese is still incipient, especially with regard to publications in scientific journals. This article also reveals how other areas of research can contribute to the development of the theme and support studies of its application in tourism services.
