Abstract

This research aimed to analyze tourists' knowledge of Acapulco's cultural offer, with the purpose of establishing strategies that enable decision-makers to have the necessary elements to diversify the tourism offer, promote the preservation of cultural heritage, and contribute to the economic and social development of the destination. To achieve this, a methodology based on the identification of cultural resources and the application of a survey to tourists was employed. Among the most important findings, it was identified that 64% of tourists do not visit Acapulco's cultural attractions due to a lack of awareness, even though many of them travel to the destination repeatedly. Additionally, and unintentional consumption of already established cultural attractions was observed. In conclusion, it is necessary to generate joint strategies through a participatory governance approach that considers all stakeholders involved.
