The Critical Discourse Analysis in the Tourism Research

Abstract

With a growing scientific production, tourism analyses encompass different methodologies. However, Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) is still in its infancy. Based on the observation of the reproduction, maintenance, mitigation or transformation of hegemonic power relations in discourses, this paper aims to discuss the CDA methodology as a methodological reference in tourism research. To achieve this, three categories of analysis will be discussed with the aim of understanding and discussing the theoretical conceptions of the methodology, relating them to tourism. As a result, it is expected that this paper will contribute to debating the aforementioned methodology in the study of tourism, contributing to greater methodological and scientific diversification of the area.
