Abstract

In the novel Blindness, of José Saramago, the polyphonic contraposition and the individual problems further to the (des)construction of identities, presenting itself in a new configuration of writing that characterize itself mainly by the fragmentation of the self and passes by the interlacement with different areas: psychology; anthropology, philosophy; sociology. The characters are devoid of personal identity and admit collective identities when they immerge in a life full of conventions. Thus, this study investigates the modalities of writings represented by the human anguish, generated by the dialectic between essence and appearance, beyond the processes of humanization that reacts against relativisms, structural determinisms and reductionisms, impoverishing of the human complexity. On the convergence and the divergence of the romance voices, appear the denunciatory character of the narrative. Those denounces are related to the general state of degradation, manifested through a variety of techniques utilized as the remit to metaphors, to symbols, to allegories and to images. The narrative institutes a reality and obligates to a reflection about the problems that surrounds the human existence.
