Abstract

Objective:
The objective of this research was to characterize scientific publications on oral health and innovation.

Design/Method/Approach:
A quantitative and descriptive study was conducted, operationalized through a bibliometric analysis using the Web of Science database.

Originality/Relevance:
Oral health constitutes a prominent and timely topic, as there is increasing awareness that it influences human health systemically. Therefore, investigating oral health in conjunction with innovation represents a promising pathway for assessing technological progress.

Main Results/Findings:
Based on specific search criteria, a portfolio of 87 articles was identified. The results showed that research on this topic has intensified over the last three years (2022–2025), accounting for 47.13% of the manuscripts. It was also found that 11.76% of the journals are responsible for more than one third of the studies, and that the publications involve researchers from 32 different countries, with the United States and England standing out. Regarding the focus of the analyzed studies, they were grouped into two clusters: innovations in oral health education, and oral health practices and impacts.

Theoretical/Methodological Contributions/Implications:
The theoretical contributions of this study reflect the landscape of scientific publications, providing insights into the research frontier. In this way, the study advances scientific knowledge by compiling the predominant approaches in research on this topic.

Social/Managerial Contributions:
The managerial implications are grounded in the development of strategies and actions primarily aimed at public health, particularly concerning the implementation and dissemination of innovations related to oral health education.
