Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being evaluated by another journal? Otherwise, justify in “Comments to the Editor”.

  • Is the text accompanied by abstract (up to 10 lines) and keywords (up to 5), with their respective versions in English? If in foreign language, does it have an abstract and keywords in Portuguese?

  • Is the text between 12 and 25 pages, in paper size A4, Arial font, size 12, line spacing of 1.5 and in Word format?

  • References quoted in the body of the text are abbreviated (author’s name, year of publication and the page number) and in parenthesis? Example: (BOURDIEU, 2000, p.134).

  • Does the text comply with the remaining format standards and bibliographic requirements described in Author Guidelines, in the section About the Journal?

  • Has all and any ownership identification of the work been removed from the text and from the menu Properties on Word, thus ensuring the journal's confidentiality criteria, if submitted to peer review, in accordance with instructions available in Ensuring Blind Peer Review?   

Author Guidelines

Attention: Antares: Letras e Humanidades is not responsible for fake acceptance letters.

1. Submitted works must be unpublished, exceptions are made for translated texts from foreign languages to Portuguese. Copies and self-copies will not be accepted. The submitted works from undergraduates and masters will only be accepted when accompanied by a doctor (PHD).

2. Texts must be followed by abstract (up to 10 lines) and keywords (up to 5, separated by full-stops), followed by their versions in English. The articles in foreign languages must contain abstract and keywords in Portuguese.

3. Titles must be in lowercase, followed by the title in English, also in lowercase. Articles in foreign languages must contain the title in Portuguese.

4. Articles must comply with the following formatting specifications: minimum length of 12 full pages and maximum of 25, paper size A4, Arial font, size 12, line spacing of 1.5, paragraph entry (first line) of 1.25cm and Word file. Pages must be numbered. Reviews of literary and cinematographic works must have the maximum length of 4 pages, respecting the other article formatting specifications.  

5. Quotations with up to 3 lines must appear on the main text, highlighted by double quotation marks. Quotations that exceed this limit  should be highlighted, with the left margin indented by 3 cm and without quotation marks, font size 10 and single spacing. Quotations in foreign languages must appear on the main text in Portuguese and in the original version as footnote. Suppressions made in quotations must be marked by brackets - [...].

6. Notes, when necessary, must be restricted to explanatory comments and be inserted in footnote, in Arial font, size 10, single spacing.

7. Section titles must be highlighted in bold, in lowercase, unnumbered, with a line of space above and the paragraph entry.

8. References quoted in the body of the text must be abbreviated (Author’s name, year of publishing and page number) and between parentheses, with the author’s last name in uppercase. Example: (BOURDIEU, 2000,p.134). Reference indication forms  “idem”, “ibidem” or “op cit.” must not be used.

9. Highlights throughout  the work must follow this standard: titles of works in italic, chapter titles or parts of works in double quotation marks, highlights made by the author in italic.

10. Complete references, complying to the ABNT format, must be listed at the end of the text. References must be aligned to the left, with single line spacing and a blank line between them.

11. Image files (pictures, graphs, tables, etc., in color or black-and-white) must be inserted in the text, but sent in attachment in the original format and in printing quality (300 dpi) as well.

12. Authors must wait for a period of at least 2 years after publishing a work to submit another.

13. The author can submit and/or publish only one work per issue, be it individual or as co-author. 

14. Submissions must have up to 4 authors only.

15. Only reviews of works published in the same year of the submission or the previous year will be accepted.

16. As it is a publication on the Internet, therefore different from the traditional support, ANTARES: Letras e Humanidades understands that the legal issues that may arise from the assignment of materials will be the exclusive responsibility of their authors.

17. After submitting, authors can check the process by logging in to the webpage. 

18. Only submissions that comply with the Author Guidelines will be considered valid.

19. In addition to submissions for the thematic issues, Antares also receives texts for continuous publication.

20. The average time for submission evaluations is 6 months.
