This issue of Scientia cum Industria gathers articles related to the activities carried out at the IV SYMPOSIUM ON TEACHING SCIENCE AND MATH GAÚCHA SERRA (IV SECIMSEG). The IV SECIMSEG occurred on July 22, 2015 at the University of Caxias do Sul in Caxias do Sul, RS, and it was attended by more than a hundred teachers from primary and secondary public and private schools in the Serra Gaucha region. The aim of the symposium was to provide a space for discussion, reflection, exchange of experience and update contributing to the improvement of continuing education of these teachers. The IV SECIMSEG opening lecture addressed the importance of students' questions in investigative activities at school. The symposium participants also exhibited their work in poster session and took part in workshops carried out by students of the Master’s Program in Science and Mathematics Teaching of the University of Caxias do Sul where active learning strategies and methods were used. The articles in this issue describe the workshops offered to the teachers and also the results of the papers presented at the poster session. The organizing committee of the IV SECIMSEG thanks the Scientia cum Industria editors for making available this important dissemination medium for the teachers' actions who seek constant improvement of their didactic and pedagogic practice.
